![]() J: You are driving a rental car, and I’ve only been on the road a little bit, like I’ve had one show that tours a little bit but people were like, “Oh my God, how was the tour? Was it amazing?” I was like, “Yes, I mean it was 14 hours of driving in 24 hours. J: Yes, that’s the thing that people who don’t do comedy, or - it’s probably the same with musicians, actually, it’s like definitely with musicians, but it’s like, it’s not until you’re psycho famous that you are flying jet setting place to place, like your ass is driving a rental car. M: Just up and down the East Coast but I was driving a lot and it was, it’s. In between that time, after I left Atlanta, I was also hanging out in DC, because that’s where my boyfriend lives, I was around that area, then I would come here and I would just be kind of just doing a whole bunch of. For anyone who is curious about the road, it can be very tiring. You mentioned there’s a period of time where you were based in Atlanta, but you were mostly on the road? I was like, “Here, if I need to come drive, I’ll get it.” M: I still have the car, it’s just not with me here. That’s actually such a good reason to move to New York because like, I literally lost the fiscal visibility to drive. ![]() M: I was like let me just go sit in this car down and let me get somewhere else. M: Isn’t that ridiculous? I was like, “You know what? I was saying, I need to go to New York forever and I’m like, “Do I want to pay?” Because this is how bad it was, my car insurance was about as much as my car payment. ![]() M: That’s such a stupid reason, I was like, my insurance kept going up so much to where I was like, “This is bad.” J: You were like, “Let me go to a city where I don’t drive.” M: Well, my lease was running out and this is such an awful reason but I had like a series of just minor car accidents. M: Yes, and especially since so many people got stuff just being in Atlanta so it was like, “Oh, well, if I got JFL from living here, then do I need to move?” You know, that kind of thing. J: If you’re paying your bills and having a good time, I get that. M: Yes, absolutely and I think that was the thing about just that scene where it’s like everybody was always pushing each other to be better and it would be like one person would pop and then they would go and then it would be like, “Well, who’s the next one?” It was very much like, “Let me get really good here first”, and then some people were like, “Do I even really need to leave?” J: I think things like that thrive in a more insular cultural context. I feel like art and culture in Atlanta is like, I got this sense that it really exists within its own community in the city and it’s not as much about like - I think this happens a little in Chicago but less there now, and more so with Atlanta, it’s like more about just actually that scene and being successful within that scene, rather than trying to make it big or whatever and so there’s such good drag in Atlanta, there’s such good comedy in Atlanta because it’s like. It’s a bunch of people that are here now too. We had a run where three or four years in a row like somebody was a JFL new face, one person - he won Last Comic Standing and that season, it was a bunch of Atlanta comics on their period. A lot of good comics have come out of Atlanta. The Atlanta scene is very strong, I would probably say, for the last 15 years or so. M: Let me see, I haven’t been a part of it in a very long time because even when I got here in 2019, I still left Atlanta around 2017 and I was just on the road and kind of back and forth. J: OK, but what is - I haven’t talked to anyone who’s come up in the Atlanta scene, what’s the scene in Atlanta like? J: Oh, sure, we all got to get somewhere somehow. I moved there for “comedy” but I was like, I’m going to go shack up with a man. ![]() M: Yes, pretty much - well, you got me so early. With the deal expected to close at the end of the month, investors now have certainty with this deal. 21 2019 said it has signed a nonbinding letter of intent to offload its oil and gas assets within the first half of 2021 and to acquire 100 of materials and systems engineering company Metamaterial Inc. Let’s dive into the reason June 30 may be a big date TRCH investors will want to mark on their calendar. At least, according to what the market believes it’s worth. Without this $1-$20 extraneous valuation bump, TRCH is likely trading where it should be. Just do a search for online textures, there are tons. I have also made my own seamless brick from a photograph of a brick house where I wanted to use the same brick. I have had some success with things like that too, on building materials. I guess it is because I don't like the look of the grass in the seamless textures I have found. The grasses that I do like, aren't seamless. For the "Front Elevation Grass Issue" I found a grass I liked, but kept having issues with how the texture repeated. Have you had any success with that? I have circled the parts I don't like about the grass in this picture. One of my issues has always been the hard lines between grass and sidewalks, or other terrain. This is just a way to potentially deal with that if other people have the same issue. Here is a ground level view of the same picture I previously posted. The "Ground Level" picture is just a standard render. I have circled the two areas that this plant distribution thing fixes. This works quite well with a bit of tweaking and also works in HD Pro not just Chief.Įven without a grass "plant", using garden beds can be helpful because you can set an exact shape and thickness so that the simple grass rises above the sidewalks properly. Saw this topic today and found a pretty cool tool as a result so i thought i would share. I have made some seamless textures before but the process is overall pretty time consuming, especially if you dont have gimp or photoshop. ![]() Here is the base image I downloaded from Provia's Website this morning. You upload an image, make some selections, and it spits out a seamless image. Here is the tiled image it generated (2x2) I didnt spend alot of time playing with it but The best result i got was setting the method to NO 3, Pre-Cropped to 2 pixels each side, Pre-Averaging Intensity 25, and I used the PNG-24 output option. If you have tried to make stone seamless you would know how inherently difficult it is.īest option I found was a download called PixPlant. It can operate as a standalone program or can be used within photoshop (it says). It has a pretty easy to use interface and can generate options quickly. Once you have one you like, you can get into a little finer editing using some familiar tools (paint, clone, blur, flatten, and sharpen) It did take a bit longer, but the use and display of the texture tiles while editing made it pretty simple and the added bonus of being able to generate some maps was cool. This function can use a bit of work but it is something. ![]() ![]() For experiments with biological samples, such as plants, the drop tower has become more attractive in recent years as fast molecular readouts, such as phosphoproteomics and secondary messenger signaling that play a role during the first seconds of a microgravity response, came more into focus. The major constraints are the short time and the up to 50 g of landing acceleration, which does not make drop towers suitable for every experimental hardware. With 6,000–10,000€ per drop, it is one of the cheapest microgravity platforms and the turnaround time of 2–3 drops per day widely surpasses that of other platforms. The free fall in the vacuum tube of a drop tower generates up to 5 s of exposure to high-quality microgravity or up to 10 s when a catapult is used to propel the experiment into the drop tower. is by far the most expensive low-gravity platform to perform experiments, but is a unique experimental platform for microgravity research. These experimental platforms differ in their time of microgravity provided, the mode of operating the hardware, the quality of microgravity, and the price (Fig 1, Table 1). A drop capsule in free fall, a plane during a parabolic flight, a sounding rocket, or a satellite creates a centrifugal force, which compensates the gravitational pull of the Earth with residual acceleration forces in the range of 10 −2–10 −6 g. Only free fall can achieve real microgravity. However, these platforms only provide what we call simulated microgravity and not real microgravity, and, depending on the biological system that is studied, the interpretation of results might be challenging. Over time, more sophisticated tools, such as clinostats and random positioning machines, were developed. Instead, scientists had to rely for a long time on changing or randomizing the gravity vector by turning plants from a vertical into a horizontal position (gravitropic stimulus), or by using centrifuges (hypergravity). When Charles Darwin published his first work on plant tropisms in 1880, he or his fellow researchers did not have the opportunity to perform experiments in real microgravity. Facilities to conduct experiments in simulated or real microgravity To compare space-based microgravity research and to highlight this unique environment, we take a look at some other facilities that are used to provide a low-gravity environment for research and at their costs and constraints. In this article, we look at the socioeconomic aspects of this research and the impact it had in recent years and will have in the future, and at the costs equated to other, equally ambitious research projects.
